The first is to get your Mac connected to your TV. Learn what you'll need and how to get it working!

Tip 1: Veetle

Go to: http://veetle.com/
Veetle is a 'do it yourself' streaming service where members can create their own channel. There are many to choose from, and membership, incidently, is free.It is advisable to be plugged into your modem/router with an ethernet cable. This ensures a smooth, painfree streaming of your shows (wireless speeds can fluctuate)!

To get Veetling, you need to first JOIN, then download the Veetle Plugin. This plugin will allow the streaming of the TV channels to occur. After downloading, run the install program and refresh your Veetle screen. See troubleshooting below is it doesn't.

The number of channel fluctuates, but at time of writing this, there are 226 channels to choose from.

Categories (and some more notable channels featured):
animation (including DC Comics, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles etc)
comedy (American Dad etc)
education (various)
events (none currently streaming)
gaming (Starcraft stream)
movies (nearly 100 currently featured)
music (various)
news (various)
religion (various)
sport (tennis, poker, basketball, boxing, baseball, cricket, F1 racing etc)
tv (Big Bang Theory, Family Guy, Fresh Prince...,Top Gear, Home Improvement, Looney Tunes, Twin Peaks, Mad Men etc)

The cool thing about Veetle, is you can watch in HD, download and even create your own channel. My favourite was the one where someone set up a video camera for their aquarium. Sort of cool, mellow idea, by trouble was, the aquarium was 2/3's empty and no fish. Seriously though, most of the channels are worth it. This was one of those 'out-of-the-box' types!
  • Troubleshooting: If you can't get the Veetle to play for you, the solutions are provided for you with screenshots by Veetle. The only you are likely to experience is that you need Firefox/Safari to run in "32bit mode" (this happened to me and it took 20seconds to fix). Follow the screenshots to make this slight and very easy to do adjustment to your preferred internet browser, and you'll be 'Veetling' in no time.
  • If you have any other issues, post on the Discussion Board for this page, which I am monitoring. I will then help you!!

Tip 2: wwiTV

WWITV-screen-Capture.jpg wiiTV currently has 2305 listed channels, in a range of languages. This is described as a 'portal', which in fact means that it links up with other internet TV channels, including 'Veetle' which is listed above. This is a great site to explore the web's range of free TV offerings.

There is a lot of 'padding', with a large representation of alternative and underground type stations, of varying quality. This site is large, take time to look around to find something worth your while

Tip 3: Fastpass.com

This can work for tv, cartoons, and movies - all free! Enjoy.

Tip 4: Sidereel.com
